Several months ago, as I was beginning to write materials for parents to use while helping their children with math, I decided that I should do some research to see if materials similar to mine already existed. I checked a local educational store which is primarily for home-schooling parents and I checked out the new educational section Barnes and Noble had just added to their stores. I was shocked at what I found. Worksheets, worksheets, and more worksheets. I would pick up a book with a lovely cover and catchy title, but inside–just worksheets! Both stores had row after row of very enticing books and workbooks each containing page after page of worksheets. So very disappointing! What do I have against worksheets? Keep reading.
Using free multiplication worksheets is a great way to add some variety to your homeschooling. As long as you don’t overload your children with worksheets, most of them enjoy the challenge of beating their best time. To use these worksheets effectively, follow these tips:
A Word of Warning In life we should not have one goal setting worksheet. We need to have multiple goal setting worksheets because in life we want to accomplish many goals, not just one big goal. Life is a series of goals.
Print Them Up After you find the online worksheets for kids that will work for the subject matter you are going to teach your child, you can print them up. This will allow your child to complete the work offline. Because many people like to restrict the amount of screen time their child gets, especially when the child is young, doing some work off the computer will be beneficial.
Teachers and parents basically are the primary users of worksheets. It is an effective tool in helping children learn how to write.
Education vs Time Filler If your goal is to provide learning opportunities for your child, you will want more than a few pictures to color in, although this is an important skill to practice. Between the ages of 3 and 7, the so-called formative years, your child is ready and willing to learn. This is a great time to start introducing the basic skills that your child will use for the rest of their lives such as counting, reading and writing. With your help and supervision, your child can do math worksheets, alphabet worksheets and much more. If education is your goal, you may want a set of worksheets designed to teach your child all of the basic skills they will need for school.
